Revolutionary Intermec Intellibeam EX25 Scan Engine Uses Area Imaging Technology to
Scan Wide Range of Bar Codes in Any Orientation from 6 Inches to 50 Feet
As the only near-far auto-focus scan engine capable of reading 1D and 2D codes up to 50 feet, as well as composite and postal codes, the EX25 allows companies to standardize on one device for all scanning requirements, substantially reducing the total cost of ownership and increasing user productivity. The EX25 can read and decode bar codes in any orientation, so workers don't need to twist their wrists or the object being scanned to capture the data, saving time and reducing fatigue and injury. It is capable of reading and decoding 2D bar codes as small as 4 mil, which are common in electronics manufacturing. "For end users, having one scanner that reads codes in any orientation dramatically improves productivity," said Steve Banker, director, Supply Chain Management, ARC Advisory Group. "For IT departments, the EX25 decreases the number of data capture devices needed, reducing training and support costs." A special lighting system allows the EX25 to easily read 1D and 2D bar codes in total darkness. Because it can read 1D and 2D bar codes printed on normal, non-reflective paper labels at long range, there is no need to purchase special media for shelf labels, which can be as much as 10 times more expensive. And its unprecedented small size allows it to be integrated into devices that could never accommodate larger, near-far laser-based scan engines.
