A-M Systems is now offering a USB device, a wedge saver, that allows keyboard wedge bar code readers to attach to a USB port. 5 or 6 pin din (PS2) devices can be attached.
Users upgrading to new PCs or Macs that only have USB ports can use their favorite old keyboard as well as avoid having to purchase expensive new USB bar code readers. Any manufacturer's PS2/AT compatible keyboard wedge reader will work with the Wedge Saver.
The wedge reader appears to the system as a USB HID keyboard. Once you plug the USB compliant Wedge Saver into a USB port, Windows 98 (or Mac OS) will sense the presence of a new "human interface device" and will install the new device. No driver is required, and it is hot swappable. It is bus powered, made is the USA.
